CURVE LAKE – Hydro One will remove the dreaded delivery charge, but only for on-reserve homeowners.

Nancy Clarke, Communications Officer at Hydro One says Hydro One advocates on behalf of its customers for fairness and rates. We are pleased that relief is coming for our on reserve First Nation customers. She also says on-reserve customers should inquire about taking off the delivery charges with the Ontario Government, they very ones who implemented the decrease at the beginning of the year.

Press Secretary Colin Nekolaichuk for The Ministry of Energy says the delivery charge will be coming off hydro bills for on- reserve customers but did not indicate when that would be.  According to some on reserve customers who did not want to be named, said the delivery charge has yet to come off their bill and was told by Hydro One the charge would be removed in June 2017.

Kathleen Whynne announced a 25 per cent rebate in March 2017 but the delivery charge removal for on-reserve  was announced in 2016.

In an email reply, Nekolaichuk said, “as part of the Fair Hydro Plan, our on-reserve customers will receive a full delivery credit.”
